Purim Celebration & Outreach - March 8, 2020

Purim is a popular holiday within the Jewish community centered on events in the Book of Esther.
In Esther 9:20-28, that celebration was commanded to future generations. It is common to dress
as Biblical characters, or even silly non-Biblical characters. Our celebration in New Jersey
focused on God's preservation of our Jewish people in the Purim story,
and the greater saving of our people in the arrival of Messiah Jesus.

Covid-19 Virus - Three days after our Purim event above, TV Evening News was reporting that the Coronavirus outbreak had gripped New York City and
was causing deaths. There were not any cases confirmed yet in our area, Morris County, but within days that changed. That March 7-8 weekend was the last
normal one before the virus restrictions were put into place. We're thankful that no one who attended our event became ill in the following weeks.

Online Passover Seder Outreaches, April 2020 - The Passover Seder is a ritual which our Jewish people have continually observed for over 3,000 years. Passover is first found in the book of Exodus and celebrates our release from physical bondage in Egypt. As Jews, Jesus and His disciples celebrated the Passover, with the "Last Supper " being the best known example. Increasingly, Christians are enjoying the celebration of Passover as they discover the Jewish roots of their faith. For many years we've led public Passover banquets, dinners and gatherings which demonstrate that the Passover service contains rituals which clearly point to Jesus as Messiah.
- So, why was this year different than other years? - Of course, the Virus distancing meant we could'nt gather as years before, so like everyone else,
we went ONLINE.

New York Discipleship
Bible Conference
October 17-31, 2020

One of the couples who had planned to attend our regular summer Bible School at Camp Shoshanah was disappointed we had to cancel due to Covid-19 rules for overnight conference centers of large groups. They then checked the local rules in their central New York State area, and found if the gathering was under a certain number, we could plan a 2 week Discipleship school at their facility. Using their 19 room former Senior Care Home, which now hosts their Pro-Life ministry, Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum and Mottel Baleston taught for a total of 5 hours a day, for 2 weeks, and had about 23 students each week. These were believers who came not only from the Northeast but also Virginia, Michigan & Arizona! Many are involved as in ministries reaching Jewish people with the Gospel, or even full-time in other ministries. One couple are career missionaries in Papua New Guinea and spent a week out of their furlough at our Bible School. Many subjects were taught with the goal of better equipping these believers to reach Jewish people. In mid October, Covid rates were very low in that area. Everyone was temperature scanned at arrival, and we had a great time of Bible learning. As I’m writing this 5 weeks after returning, all are well, no illness reported.
